RELATIONSHIP DYNAMICS, POST-COVID19 (AND WHY TICK CAN HELP REDUCE CONFLICT).
June 26, 2020

As we’re ‘coming out’ of our isolation and back into work, it’s an interesting time for all. Going to the pub at 3.00pm on Friday for knockoff drinks might still be a little way off. Maybe COVID-19 will change workplaces forever, as more leaders realise the advantages of remote teams.

But there’s one thing that will be more important than ever before, as we enter a new paradigm of work. That is, celebrating wins. The unprecedented time we’re emerging from affected the way we do things. Jobs were lost, clients went MIA, and as such, confidence dropped.

As a leader, this is something to be aware of right now. And you can start by taking this time to understand your staff better.

What is their Tick type?

As a post-COVID leader, the best way you can support your people is to get to know their intrinsic needs – and help them learn it, too. This is where a Tick personality assessment comes in, as it’s a simple, easy to do test that reveals a lot about an individual’s character. It’ll help your staff (and you) connect the dots, by giving insights into strengths, weaknesses, thought processes and behaviours, based on their personality.

As a leader, this helps you in the way you manage a team. These profiles reveal four Tick bird types that’ll allow you to celebrate wins that each individual will respond to. For example, a Dove will love feeling adored and appreciated. While an Owl will see a win through the lens of data.

Tick profiles tell you what people won’t.

Your employees might not feel comfortable saying what they need, outright. But when you know an individual’s Tick bird type, you won’t need to try to guess. When there’s a win to celebrate (which there always is), you’ll know exactly how to praise each person in your team.

As we continue to tread this unprecedented path, remember the importance of celebrating the small wins. We’ve all be in the confines of our homes for weeks, so people need a little extra motivation. This is natural and to be expected.

Your team won’t be the same as they were before. This crisis affected us all, to varying degrees. You might just find, that maybe, small celebratory markers are exactly what they need to keep pushing on.

So, pick up that bottle of champs, cheer to good work and being back together again. Just let the Eagles of the team. They love to be boss!
